"Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."
In this blog entry, I will be discussing a topic that I know a lot of people don't like to think about but one, I believe, is worth looking into. What I am speaking of, of course, is--death. Before I go into my opinion on the subject, allow me to give you some operational definitions that I have acquired from two sources.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines death as such: 1. the end of life 2. the cause of loss of life 3. the state of being dead. 4. destruction, extinction.
Young's Compact Bible Dictionary describes death in this way: It is the opposite of life; the normal end of life which comes with the departure of the spirit from the body. It is the result of sin, which causes the disintegration of the physical body and leaves the spirit in an intermediate state until it returns to the resurrected body in the end of days. In the concept of both Testaments some are resurrected to everlasting life, some to everlasting contempt. A "second death" is noted in Rev 2:11, 20:6, which is eternal separation from God in a lake of fire.
The definition from the Merriam-Webster describes only the physical manifestation of death while Young's digs a little deeper by going into the spiritual aspects associated with death. There are many people, even among religious denominations, that believe in what is called annihilationism; which only puts death in the sense of being the total destruction of the body, or the cessation of existence. But after doing some intense study myself, which has included the Bible, I have a hard time believing in annihilationism. There is a spiritual aspect to this which living man cannot experience, but which God alludes to, until his time has come.
Here is a passage taken out of Mark 9:2-4(King James Version) that I believe will pique your interest while at the same time aiding me in proving a point:
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4 And there appeared unto them Elias(Elijah) with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
To me verse 4 really says alot: "And there appeared unto them Elias(Elijah) with Moses". Before I continue, allow me to give you some background on the individual fates of these two individuals as stated in two books of the Bible:
Deuteronomy 34:5 "So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD".
2 Kings 2:1 "And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind..."
So as you can see, Elijah never died but instead was caught up into heaven by God. However, Moses had died long before Jesus was born. One could excuse Elijah showing up at Jesus' transfiguration given that he never died, but how is it that Moses could have appeared, with the Disciples as witnesses, during this event even though he had been dead and buried for a very long time? I'm very sure that Moses couldn't have been resurrected for the only individuals to ever return from death have been Lazarus and Jesus Himself!
What I am saying is, if Moses' body and soul could be equated as the same entity and not separate from each other, like the annihilationists think, then, technically, Moses should not have appeared for his body and soul had met with destruction long ago. One other thing you could say is that this could have been a temporary resurrection, but I seriously doubt that God would do anything like that.
Another contention that annihilationists have is that they don't believe in hell. In religion this can be a dangerous thing because Jesus spent a great deal of His ministry on earth warning people against hell. If all who profess God see Jesus as the ultimate authority in all things doctrinal, then how could they possibly omit the subject of hell from death. The Bible clearly states that hell is a real place and it goes to show you that if the doting layman does not read the scripture for himself, he can very easily be lead into some serious error. Hell goes by many names in the Bible. In the Old Testament, it is refered to as Sheol; and Gehenna or hell in the New Testament. Young's Compact Bible Dictionary describes it as a place where the spirits of the righteous and wicked were confined until Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice; opening the way to heaven for the saints. Revelation speaks to the final fate of hell when it will be cast into the lake of fire along with the wicked and death itself.
Alright enough of the gloomy side of this subject for God has given hope to all who will listen. One day, death will be no more, and life will be eternal. But before God grants this eternal life, He asks His creations to fulfill one condition--we must believe. We must reject this wicked world with its twisted logic and believe on the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, rose from the dead and conquered death itself to give those who believe in Him eternal life. Some will answer the call and some won't; this has already been determined by God in His great foresight.

Geez, what a day this has been. Ants in your pants, try ants in your house! I've exterminated so many creepy crawlies today, that I don't want to see another one for a long time. But they're persistant little buggers, so who knows what tomorrow may bring. This happens every year in my home though; so I guess it's better to take it in stride.

The Playstation 2 isn't dead yet! There are two particularly interesting games that I am looking forward to seeing this fall: Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will boast more characters and better gameplay that than last year's model of this franchise.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix will include the original Kingdom Hearts II with some added levels and enemies. Also included will be a 3-D version of Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories! This is great for those of us who don't own the gameboy advance.

Sigh, what do you do when life gives you nothing but lemons? Make lemonade perhaps? But lemonade still tastes sour without sugar to sweeten it up. I've searched all through the pantry for that darn sugar, but I just can't find it. Now I have sour lemonade and when I drink it, I'm left with a burned out, dead inside, just don't care anymore feeling. That's some rough lemonade! But, sadly, it's all true. I've been drinking my lemonade without sugar for years now. And the funny thing is, you get used to it after a while. But what's this!? I've found the sugar! My lemonade tastes sweet again! However, the sweetness doesn't last; it never does. In a few months time, I've run out of sugar and now--I'm drinking sour lemonade again!
